How to Change a Snowflake Connection from Public to Private
Secure Snowflake connectivity for Power BI and Fabric.
Snowflake supports private connectivity (e.g. private link or VPC) so traffic doesn’t go over the public internet. Moving Power BI or Fabric from a public Snowflake endpoint to a private one improves security and may satisfy compliance requirements.
Steps
Configure private connectivity in Snowflake (and your cloud) according to their docs. Then update the connection in Power BI or Fabric: point the connector to the private endpoint URL and adjust network/authentication as needed. Test from the same network path that the service uses.
Coordinate with networking and Snowflake admins; some setups require allowlists or private endpoints in the tenant.
